Built by the guy who stayed.

Day one, hour one, 7 a.m. — Air Force medical school, Sheppard AFB, Texas, 1985. Thirty men in green fatigues, a five-inch stack of paper on every desk, and an instructor saying the words at the top of this page.

The youngest man in the room stayed. He went on to invent the semester-on-a-page in a plastic binder at the University of Arizona, climb Mt. Shasta the way it's actually done — by picking the brains of everyone who'd climbed it first — and spend forty years in medicine.
